the over all design is super, but that kind of green makes it not my taste, for colours
an older design source came to mind, inspiring suggestions for you:

http://plantilla-complimentary.blogspot.com/

there is still available a demo for blogger in spanish

the spanish download version is no longer in existence

original work here

http://www.freecsstemplates.org/preview/complimentary

the blogger version looks better

enjoying your work, clean,
not super pumped up, like others that don't even load in your browser.

Love it!!
Great work from PSDVIBE and awesome job coding!
By the way, do you by any chance have an HTML version of this template (so I could possibly code it in WordPress ;) ).

Lawny said...

@Budgetperson
Sorry i didn't create an HTML version i converted it straight from PSD to blogger but it wouldn't be hard to get the source code from the live demo i was going to convert this to WordPress myself when i have time. Some of the XHTML and CSS will not be needed in WordPress

thanks for nice templates

Once again, awesome template. Any chance you can tweak it to a 3 column after the heading and such?

Lawny said...

@bob
not sure if i'm going to convert this to a 3 column

I'm relatively new to html and blogging. How do I create the URL's to which these links will lead? Will I have to create two more blogs or can I create more pages on one blog? I see you've included ".../2009/03/contact.html and .../about.html. But they both come from one blog. How do I create those? Thanks.

Lawny said...

@Jürgen Strohmayer
go to your blog create a post titled "about" or whatever you want to call it then publish the post also you may want to backdate the post so it gets buried in your archives by clicking "post options" at the bottom of your post editor next visit your blog and right click the post title and choose "copy link location" or copy the link from the address bar at the top of your browser window then replace the # in the template as described with the link you copied save it should work any problems comment here ;-)

Love this template. I suggest you put out some more with other color schemes.

I've already started my first blog in blogger using one of their templates.Do I delete that first then try to upload this? Can I change colors using the toolbars in blogger? Will I have to write code for everything I do if I use one of your templates? Thank you, I wish I found you sooner!

Lawny said...

@Anara
you can't delete the default templates just upload one of these if you like and no you don't need to write code to use these read installation instructions here

Sometimes the blue image below the title doesn't load. Can I replace theat section with a color code in the html-where would i find the code for that section?

Lawny said...

@jana
there is no blue images on this template

Jana said...

oops-it kinda looks like a dark blue on my browser. I'm using Safarit- the section blelow the title and the footer section is what I mean. Sorry-I didn't describe it well.

Do you have any suggestion? I love your designs but I need it to load every time. I would be fine with changing this to a color value and of course I will still leave your link up.

Lawny said...

@Jana
i need the url of the blog you are having problems with

Jana said...

thanks :)

Hey, I'm having trouble with the links on mine. I haven't edited the colors or anything, but unvisited links are appearing black rather than green.

My blogThanks!

Lawny said...

@jana
you will need to upload the images to your photobucket account or tinypic.com and link them up in the CSS code here's the code which has the background image

#featured {
color:#fff;
height:185px;
background: url(http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_hcF8ssiWKd4/SeWJvcQkBtI/AAAAAAAAAF8/eYM2-MY_Gj8/s1600/2vmzf4g.jpg) repeat-x;
}
#featured-wrap{
width:945px;
height:185px;
margin:0 auto;
overflow:hidden;
background:url(http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_hcF8ssiWKd4/SeWJvcQkBtI/AAAAAAAAAF8/eYM2-MY_Gj8/s1600/2vmzf4g.jpg) repeat-x;
}

you could remove the images and use an hex code for the background colour here's an example of the background set as black

#featured {
color:#fff;
height:185px;
background:#000;
}
#featured-wrap{
width:945px;
height:185px;
margin:0 auto;
overflow:hidden;
background:#000;
}

@Downey Soft
your links look green to me some in your post look red maybe you have inline styles which override the CSS rules

Jana said...

Thanks Lawny...worked great-I made changes to the footer too...probably won't leave them this color but just wanted to try it. Thanks again!!!!

Downey Soft said...

It's a problem with my browser apparently. Links appear green in Safari, just not my Firefox 3 (could be an app or something).

Oh and those links were red because I edited them in the post to be cause I didn't want them black.

Since it works in Safari and for you, I'll just assume the problems on my end. Thanks though!

Hi,

I am trying to change my blogger template from the satandard one I was given at start to this http://plantilla-complimentary.blogspot.com/

but it's not working, when changing blogger template it only lets you upload the html, and I can't upload the css that goes with it to make it look good. any help much appreciated.

thanks

Lawny said...

@Fiscal Student
blogger uses internal styles in the <head> section of your template so if you downloaded one of my templates the CSS would already be in the head section of the template they are .xml files which you upload through your dashboard by going to layout > edit html then uploading the .xml file if you have downloaded templates from another site you will need to check if they are bloggerized otherwise it will not work with blogger

Hi,

I have used ur template. Instead of add page element it has only add gadget which minimizes things to add. Also in the header section, ther is only one add gadget. I added the second one but it doesn't showup to left and right instead shows up and down. How to add more page element in footer section?

Any suggestions??

Lawny said...

@Pria
what do you mean by minimizes things to add ? what do you find different ?

"add a page element" and "add a gadget" are both the same thing you just need to scroll the gadget list and use the navigation on the left of the "add a gadget" popup window to find the one you want.

The footer section already has 3 sections for you to add a gadget here's what the page element tab looks like on the demo.

the header has no sections and the add an image has not been coded to work with this layout ;-)

Priya said...

Lawny,

Header section I meant, instead of search box I want to include random post from 2006-2009 seperate showing the year with +/- expand post. Is it possible to add some code ther? Again in that section, when I add a gadget for recent comments, ther is not enuf space and the recent posts goes missing.

Priya said...

From the demo I see u have featured comment. When I add a new one, it doesn't show up to the right side of it as it has more space in the front page.

Lawny said...

@Priya
the section on the right of the header is not designed to be a section thats why you can't add a recent comments widget it would need to be recoded to add a widgetized area there for them to fit

Anonymous said...

HEY, HOW DO I ADD THE FEATURED SECTION?

Lawny said...

@Anonymous
add an html/javascript widget and paste whatever content you want in it

Unknown said...

Hey Lawny,

Great template, I love it. I'm having trouble though where the background colors (including the blue featured content bar at the top) frequently seem to disappear. This doesn't happen all the time, but fairly often. I have next to no coding experience, so do you have any idea what might be going on?

Also, what do I need to edit in the HTML if I want to change the color or something?

my url is
www.molecularfossils.com

any help you can offer would be great! thanks

Lawny said...

@Dan
Hi where did you download the template you are using from ? because it looks like the template has been modified the most likely cause of the backgrounds not loading will be the bandwidth because thousands of people have downloaded the same template from where ever you downloaded it from you can upload the images to your own photobucket account or where ever you host your images and copy the direct links then replace them in the CSS code for example here's a snipplet of the CSS from the template

#featured {
color:#fff;
height:185px;
background: url(http://i44.tinypic.com/2vmzf4g.jpg) repeat-x;
}

i would copy the url from the code above and paste it into my browser's address bar and load the image up then save the image to your computer and upload it to your image host and copy the direct link from your host and replace the url above

hope this helps you

Jana said...

Lawny,
Thanks for all your help . I love this design-I was able to figure it all out except the "search" green picture. I would like to upload this to photo bucket because sometimes it doesn't load and it just shows up as a blue question mark. How can I get a copy of this so I can host it someplace? Here's my site...
http://www.thehomeschooljungle.com

Lawny said...

@Jana
you can grab the image from the following url

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_hcF8ssiWKd4/SeWJndq3NRI/AAAAAAAAAFs/TaOW8kXczl0/s1600/2hd8p3o.jpg

once you have uploaded it expand the widget templates and search for the above url in the template and replace it with yours you can update the design by link to point to my new url http://lawnydesigns.com if you don't mind Thanks

Jana said...

Thanks again-you have been a huge help with my template. I was able to replace the search button with your easy to follow instructions!

Thanks for your nice template i love it

HOW ARE YOU

@foto
I'm fine thanks

Can this template have the expandable post summary? I put in the code but blogger keeps rejecting it!

I'm an amateur at html so this may be the case...

Lawny said...

@Blurb Burster
yes try this post

I try to adapt your template to portuguese language but in navigation I don't know how to change de words "Home" "About" "Contact" for portuguese ones.

Thanks

Lawny said...

@Antonio
the code for home, about and contact can be found in the tutorial on the demo version found here that should help

Anonymous said...

hi..
how do i replace this template to my blogspot template. i tried just copying but i am not getting anything clear when i view it.

Lawny said...

@Anonymous
See this post for instructions on installing blogger templates

Anonymous said...

This is exactly the layout I've been searching for! BUT like others the colors are not what I would prefer. It would be great if you could define more variables so the colors could be changed using the blogger dashboard. Fabulous template tho :)

Lawny said...

@Anonymous
it is not hard to define more variables you could read my tutorial and apply them to the template

jerrod said...

i have searched all through the code and can't find the spot to change the navigation links at the top. I followed the tutorial and still can't find anywhere in the code where it has the home, about, contact links. the expand widgets is also checked.

am i missing something?

Lawny said...

@j-face
you do not need to expand the widget templates it is near the top of the template just after the closing </head> tag use the search feature in firefox
